Privacy Policy

What we collect when you join our emails or download our free PDFs, why, where it's kept, and how to have it removed. In plain words.

Who we are

Path to Allah is run by Mohammad Shaan Serwal, a sole proprietor based in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. We run this website, pathtooallah.com, the @path.too.allah pages on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest, and a free weekly letter called The Jumu'ah Hour. What we collect

• Your email address, when you sign up.
• Your first name, only if you choose to give it.
• When you signed up, and which group you joined.
• Whether you open or click our emails. Our mailing service records this so we can see which letters are useful and stop sending to inboxes that never open.

We don't ask for anything else. We don't use advertising trackers on this site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read and where they came from (for example Instagram or a search), so we know what's useful. It doesn't tell us who you are, and we've turned off Google's advertising features.

If you're in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics runs without cookies on this site and only sends anonymous counts. Elsewhere it may set cookies on your device to tell a returning visitor from a new one. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings or Google's opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Why we use it

Only to send you what you signed up for: The Jumu'ah Hour (one email a week), the welcome emails that deliver any free PDF you asked for, and a few short follow-up emails after you join (including news of our du'ā book, Call Upon Me). The legal basis is your consent: you asked for the letter by signing up, and you can withdraw that at any time.

We never sell, rent or share your email with anyone for their own use.

Who handles it for us

• Sender.net stores the list and sends the emails. Sender is based in the European Union.
• Cloudflare hosts this website. Like any web host, it briefly processes your IP address to deliver the page and protect it from attacks.
• Google Fonts serves the fonts on this page, which means your browser asks Google's servers for them.
• Google Analytics counts visits to this site (see "Analytics" above).

Each of these companies is only allowed to use your data to provide their service to us.

Our Pinterest and social media tools

We use the Pinterest API, through our own app, only to publish and schedule pins on our own Pinterest account and to read the statistics for our own pins and boards. The app is used only by us. It does not sign in other people, and it does not collect, store or share any data about other Pinterest users. The same applies to the tools we use to schedule posts on our own Instagram and Facebook pages.

How long we keep it

For as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, you stop getting emails straight away. Sender keeps a record that you unsubscribed so you're never emailed again by mistake. If you'd like that record deleted too, email us and we'll remove it completely.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, and we'll reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.

If you're in the UK or the EU and you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can also complain to your data protection authority. In the UK that's the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Unsubscribing

Every letter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're off the list.

Changes

If we change this page, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your email, we'll tell you in the letter first.
